Dr. Jivraj was selected to be the Eye Doctor for the Pan Am Games 2015, not only giving him an incredible opportunity to provide quality eye care to the word’s best athletes but also to educate them on the importance of regular eye exams.

Dr. Theo Buzea

Dr. Theo Buzea was born in Eastern Europe and moved to Alberta when he was 5 years old. He earned his Bachelor of Science and Optometry degrees at the University of Waterloo. During his training he worked side by side with specialized Ophthalmologists on ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, dry eye disease, diabetes and more. His education was furthered through his other rotations where he practiced binocular vision, pediatrics, contact lenses, cornea and low vision.

Dr. Buzea is passionate in all aspects of Optometry and is particularly interested in ocular disease and binocular vision. His goal is to educate patients while providing high quality health care. He can provide exams in Romanian as well. He likes to spend his spare time outdoors fishing, camping, and mountain biking. Come by and meet him!

Dr. Du is very passionate about vision and ocular health, and strives to ensure that each and every one of her patients receives exceptional quality care. She is currently accepting new patients, and can offer exams in Cantonese, as well as basic Spanish.

Throughout her externship rotations in Chicago, Colorado, and California, Dr. Law was able to gain valuable experience in low vision, binocular vision, and pediatrics.  During her externship at the Dayton Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Ohio, Dr. Law expanded her experience in managing various ocular diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.  Upon graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2012, Dr. Law worked in Calgary and then pursued a career in St. John’s, Newfoundland.  For five years, she worked closely with ophthalmology in a multidisciplinary private practice co-managing ocular diseases, pre/post-corneal refractive surgery, as well as caring for low vision and pediatric patients.  In 2018, Dr. Law seized the opportunity to practice and work alongside well-respected optometrists at the Barrhaven Optometric Centre, a busy clinic in Ottawa, Ontario.

Dr. Law is a member of the Canadian Association of Optometrists and the Alberta Association of Optometrists. In her spare time, Christie enjoys running and hiking. She has completed many half marathons and the Rock & Roll Las Vegas Full Marathon in 2015.  She is ecstatic to be back in her hometown of Calgary, and looks forward to serving her community again.

DRY EYE PRACTITIONER OF THE YEAR

Congratulations to Dr. Sal Jivraj for being awarded the 2019 Dry Eye Practitioner of the Year.

Dr. Sal focussed his MBA Master’s thesis on dry eyes and in the development of specialist dry eye services in optometric practice. Dr. Sal’s passion and interest in this area led him to create and design a free iPhone app for dry eye treatment and management. The DryiRelief app has provided relief and education to his patient’s attending his dry eye clinic. Dr. Sal was awarded this prestigious award at the optometry awards ceremony on June 01, 2019.
